.........."In the stillness and silence of retreat, ..........we glimpse and return to that deep inner nature ..........that we have so long ago lost sight of ..........amid the busyness and distraction of our minds." ..................................................................Sogyal Rinpoche
Contemplative breaks
Lerab Ling welcomes anyone who wishes a contemplative pause in life, respecting the spiritual tradition of each individual.
You will receive the help of instructors who have done the three-year retreat under the guidance of Sogyal Rinpoche, to set up a schedule and frame your retreat, and to support you throughout your stay.
Although the emphasis is on personal practice, group sessions are available to support your retreat. Meditation courses and guided meditations are proposed every morning from 9am to 10am and every afternoon from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, followed by sessions of questions and answers. You will also have the opportunity to meet individually with the instructors, the monks and nuns of the Lerab Ling community. During your retreat you will have access to the temple shrine rooms for your personal practice as well as to a library of audio and video teachings from Sogyal Rinpoche on meditation, the fundamentals of Buddhism, healing, finding peace, overcoming depression, relationships, and many other themes for your personal study.
Before you arrive, we will talk with you to help you determine whether a personal retreat is the best option for you, or if another type of retreat would be more suitable.
Rigpa students
Personal retreat can be an invaluable way of “intensifying” your home retreat in the perfect retreat environment of Lerab Ling. During your stay, you may continue to follow the home retreat programme (transmissions or the parallel programme) and, at the same time, deepen your personal practice over a period ranging from two days to one month.
You will receive advice on setting up your personal study and practice schedule. And, if you wish, you may join the practising sangha for daily group practices in the temple. You will have access to the temple shrine rooms for your personal practice and a to a selection of Sogyal Rinpoche's teachings for your personal study at any time of the day.
