The Fearless Wisdom of the Heart –
Highlights of the Bodhicharyavatara on Chapters 1 to 8
PUBLIC | MAHAYANA
For those who have followed Ringu Tulku Rinpoche’s teachings on the Bodhicharyavatara over the past years, this retreat will be a perfect way to refresh your memory and actively work with the teachings.
If you are joining this year for the first time, it will be a wonderful preparation for receiving the teachings on chapter 8 and 9 given this year by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche from 10 to 14 July.
This retreat is really for everyone, regardless of your experience in the practice of Buddhism.
In this retreat, we will study the highlights of the first eight chapters of the Bodhicharyavatara—The Way of the Bodhisattva—by the great Buddhist saint Shantideva. A bodhisattva is someone who cultivates compassion, courage and wisdom to the highest extent, and who, for the sake of others, strives to awaken to their full potential by transforming their mind and heart.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama said once, 'If I have any understanding of compassion and the bodhisattva path, it is entirely on the basis of studying the Bodhicharyavatara that I possess it.'
Guided by Rigpa Shedra teachers Verena Pfeiffer and Chantal Bergers, we will draw out highlights of Shantideva’s text and, with the help of traditional as well as contemporary commentaries, explore together just how powerful and miraculous the workings of compassion can be, and how we can continue to transform ourselves into compassionate, sane, healthy and whole human beings.
In this retreat, we will include practices such as meditation, loving-kindness and tonglen, together with some fun, fresh study methods to help you to deeply apply and practice these teachings on wisdom and compassion.
This retreat will be followed by an in-depth teaching given by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche (9-14 July) on the Chapter 8 and 9 of the Bodhicharyavatara. If you join the two events you will automatically benefit of 20% reduction on the Ringu Tulku event fees. Simply choose the event “Bodhicharyavatara Retreat and Ringu Tulku” when registering online.
